Founded in 1968, North Alabama Shoals Hospital is a 198-bed, Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospital serving Muscle Shoals and the surrounding communities as part of the North Alabama Market and Lifepoint Health. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, medical and surgical inpatient services, outpatient surgery, behavioral health, medically managed substance and alcohol detoxification, and inpatient rehabilitation.

Shoals is home to the region’s only acute inpatient rehabilitation facility, the J.W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, as well as the Shoals Senior Care Center, the area’s only dedicated geriatric psychiatric unit. Over the past several years, the hospital has experienced significant growth in patient volumes, expanded service lines, enhanced quality outcomes, and continued investment in its people and culture, positioning it as a leading healthcare provider in Northwest Alabama.
